GSW Chords

OK, I thought I had something more, but this is what I could find
quickly in old mail and stuff. There's also some hand written stuff that
used to be in the GSW Book (at one point I typed up most of it, but I'm
not sure where it went (need to search an ancient laptop (or HD that was
within)). I've also found some links to sites where people had
transcribed some back in '99, but the sites aren't up anymore. I'll add
it to things to add to the website.

From: Tyler Hargreaves

Some tablature I have figured out in the last little while. I don't
know if someone wants to put it on the web page, I don't know how so
it's up to you.

Wendy:

'C'-'G'-'F'

The little lick thing goes
    HO
E--1->3------------------
B--1-----0--1--0---------
G--0--------------2--0---
D-----------------------0---Into a 'G'

That, the C-G-F, is played quietly for the first part of the verses,
then it changes when it goes into the "And Wendy won't give me the
time of day no..." to an 'F' shape,

E--1--
B--1--
G--2--
D--3--

played on the fifth, seven and ninth frets. I obviously don't have that

part down too sound but it is up there you just have to play with it to
get it right.

The chorus is 'C'-'G'-'C'-'G'-'C'-'G' then on the "Bear some relevance
to
what you're doing" line it goes 'F'. And on the "Ain't you got nothing
to say it goes 'F'-'G'-'C'.

Get on the Train:

This is fairly straightforward too.

The verse goes

E--7--5
B--7--5
G--7--6
D--6--7
A--7--7
E--0--5

The chorus goes

E--7--5                                 E--5--5
B--7--5                                 B--7--5
G--7--6 Do that three times and then G--7--6
D--6--7                                 D--7--7
A--7--7                                 A--5--7
E--0--5                                 E--5--5

Waiting for The Tide, by Lo Faber deconstructed by Ray Ashley

the introduction uses the same melody and chordes as the "Fade

footnote: after the word "kid" there is a little instrumental fill.
the notes to this fill are:

G G# A C D F D C A G F G F

listen to the album for the correct rhythm. Listen to the album cut
many
times to really get a feel for the song. It's hard to convey the
subtlties
in a text file. In particular, Bevo's part contains a lot of
countermelodies
with shocking harmonic implications.

Driving West
            Slide (repeat begining twice)
E------7---->-------9----------7------------------------
B------5---->-------7----------5------------------------
G------5---->-------7----------5------------------------
D------5---->-------7----------5------------------------
A-------------------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------------

the chords throughout the whole song go as follows
E////->D////->A////->D/////->A////->D////->E////
these chords are all played as bare chords on the 7th fret
for the E and the 5th for the A and D.
I think the chorus(and I'm just going to see a girl at brandywine...)
is just B and A. I haven't really played with the song much.

Subject: The Ballroom

Hi Everyone!

Here is a transcription of the lyrics and chords to "The Ballroom".
I was figuring it out for Stick and figured I would share my
learnings with all of you. If anyone has any corrections or
comments you can address them to me or post them. I am not 100.00%
sure about all of this but I think it should be good enough info
for those who want to strum on a guitar and sing it. There are
other nuances to the song that I would need music paper to
correctly notate.  Have fun!

One other thing - the tape I got this from was a bit off speed, so
I am assuming it is in the key of B because that's what it was
closest to. It may possibly be in C, but I am 99% sure its in B.
My memory from seeing this in concert a lot of times says its in B.
Also, the song is in the myxolydian mode.

key: capital letters = major chord
     lower case = minor chord
     M7 = major seventh
     7 = dominant seventh
     D/A = D chord with A in the bass

the chords are basically the same for all the verses, so I only
wrote them in for the first half of the first verse, it should be
pretty easy to figure the rest out if you've heard the song enough
times.

I:

B               A
I walk into the ballroom alone
    B           A

B                  A

I just got this from I guy at Buffalo I hope you all like it. . .

yeah, i know at least portions of all of those... (wendy, nightingale,
henritetta..) i'll give you my attmepts at them.
Wendy
opening bit is CC GG F G.... tabbed out it is
-0-0-2-2-3----3-------2 |E
-1-1-2-2-1---1-1-1-0--2 |B
-0-0-0-0-2--2-------2-0 |G
-2-2-0-0-3-3----------0 |D
-3-3-2-2-X------------2 |A
-X-X-3-3-X------------3 |E

that returns thougout the song... so play it where appropriate... the
verse is (i'm not too sure of the inversions, but this is how iplay it)

GG(double bar chord at 10th fret) DD(bar chord at 10th fret) B/(slide up

to)CC GG(open position, 3rd fret)
GG DD F(8th fret double bar chord)
tabbed out it is:

-10-10-10-10-7/8--8--3-3--10-10-10-10-8-|E
-12-12-10-10-7/8--8--3-3--12-12-10-10-10|B
-12-12-11-11-8/9--9--4-4--12-12-11-11-10|G
-12-12-12-12-9/10-10-5-5--12-12-12-12-10|D
-10-10-12-12-9/10-10-5-5--10-10-12-12-8-|A
-XX-XX-10-10-7/8--8--3-3--XX-XX-10-10-XX|E

that's the main part of the verse, the prechorus is probably the
trickiest part, strange inversions (that i know are correct, cuz is
watched aaron play them):

"But Wendy won't give me the time of day"
"But i still love her anyway.." background vocals repeat
chord for here is
                                           H        H       (H=hammer
on)
-X-E                                    -XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-| can also be

-8-B                                    -11-12-12-11-12-12-| played as
-9-G repeat this chord while -11-12-12-11-12-12-| double bar
-7-D lo is singing -11-12-12-11-12-12-| chords...
-8-A                                    -XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-| sliding up,

-X-E                                    -XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-| not Hammer.

it's like the "purple haze" chord with your pinky and ring fingers
changed
(pinky on the 9th fret, ring finger on the 8th fret of B string..)

"and if i ever talk to her this is what i'll say..."

 (same fucked up F chord as before) E minor (open postion)

"can you hear the music wendy, can you hear the tune?"

 C ->             G->          C->              G---

"do you think it might bear some relevance to what you're doin?"

 C->                   G->                    F---

"and she said..." (the riff... oh boy!)

-----------------------------------------------------|E
-12-13-12-13-15-----------12-------------------------|B
---------------12-14-12-14--12-12--12----------------|G
---------------------------------15--15-12-----------|D
------------------------------------------15-14-12---|A
--------------------------------------------------15-|E

you may opt for different fingerings for this riff, but the notes are
right, i'm pretty sure... it's kinda tough to get the speed and
accuracy,
but patience some day you will metamorphasize into either lo or aaron..

the end jam is real easy, it's just:

E minor- C- G- F- G- F-

well, that should do it for Wendy... any questions, just ask, and i'll
do
my best to answer them.-

Princess Henrietta-

it starts out with the basic progression of D-C-G
there is a riff that goes with the D chord... here's the tab:

-5-----------3-3-3-3-3-3-| this is lo's part, aaron just plays power
-7-----------5-5-3-3-3-3-| chords under this. it alternates between:
-7-----------5-5-4-4-4-4-|
-7----7------5-5-5-5-5-5-|  D-C-G and D-C <--big long sustained
distorted
-5-7-9-9-7-5-3-3-5-5-5-5-|                   power chords.
-X-----------X-X-3-3-3-3-|

alternate transcription:

here's some of Henrietta (intro/riff) for those interested. When i get
around to it, i'll post some more on my homepage.

                            |       |
                       (play G part and scratches every other time)
                             (1st, 3rd, 5th....etc.)

Have a day.  :|

Nightengale

this one is easy to play the chords, the inversions are a bit tricky,
but
who needs weird inversions. well it's a really easy progression. it's:

E-A-D-A-E

i play it 2 different ways. the first one is easier, the 2nd, however,

I whole heartedly second that request - I've been searching all of the
guitar tab sites I can find to try to track down GSW (or Seapods) tabs.
If
anyone knows where to find some I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks,
